Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva has reacted to the red card he received from referee David Coote during the Blues Premier League match against West Brom on Saturday.

The Brazilian was shown a second yellow card leading to him being sent off during the shocking 5-2 defeat to West Brom at home on Saturday.

According to the Brazilian, who was playing his first game for Chelsea after two months following an injury-enforced absence, his tackle on Matheus Pereira “was not an expulsion move.”

Chelsea appeared to be on a smooth ride to victory when Christian Pulisic put them ahead in the 26th minute but the game changed completely two minutes when Silva was shown a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Okay Yokuslu.

The Brazilian veteran defender had earlier received a yellow for hauling back Pereira.

He said that he has learnt his lessons from the incident, vowing to bounce back for a new beginning.

The 36-year-old wrote on Instagram,

“I believe it was not an expulsion move, I haven’t seen the video yet, but the referee made his decision and we can’t change what happened.

“I assume my responsibility for the expulsion, which unfortunately directly affected the result of the game.

“Now we have to join our forces, because Wednesday it will be another battle. Come on Chelsea.”
