Celebrities are known either for something good or bad but some are known for something worse than that. Nollywood actress, Yetunde Akilapa, always appears on the news but unlike her counterparts, she is known more for her kleptomaniac talent.

Back in 2019, the estranged Nollywood actress, allegedly bought goods close to N200k, paid with a fake alert, and also stole hair extensions worth three hundred thousand naira, at Bidex Hair shop on Toyin Street, Ikeja.

After a video of her went viral, people who were able to identify the lady as actress Yetunde Akilapa sent a message to the owner of the shop. They compared the alleged thief in the video with a picture of the actress.

It was confirmed that the same person in the video and the one who burgled the shop was the same actress, Yetunde Akilapa, a serial kleptomaniac.

However, days after her identity was revealed, the unexpected happened!

The actress packaged all that she stole in one piece, accompanied by a letter, and dropped it at a vulcanizer’s shop near the shop she stole from.

In the letter, she asked for forgiveness and claimed she didn’t intend to burgle the shop but it happened as a result of a spiritual problem that she has been battling with for a long time;

In 2018, the actress was reportedly caught while attempting to burgle a home in Lagos in December. The 32-year-old actress was apprehended at Ajao estate, Oluwalogbon in Ketu while trying to break into a house with a bunch of master keys.

A video surfaced online showing the actress being apprehended and whisked away while pleading for mercy. She was later taken to a police station in the area to prevent jungle justice.

The Ketu burgle came just six months after she was arrested and charged to court for burglary and stealing valuables to the tune of N7 million at an apartment situated inside Mutairu street, Shangisha area of Ketu, Lagos.

She was brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court where she stood trial on a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.

As it had happened in previous attempts, Akilapa was caught with a bunch of master keys, which she intends to use to gain entry. In 2014 after she was arrested for burglary and stealing, she said he needed prayers to overcome the spiritual attack on her.

“I am not a thief. I didn’t steal anything. I don’t know what is happening to me. I have every reason to believe my problem is spiritual.

I can’t even explain the circumstance I found myself. I am fed up with life. I am not what people think I am. God, please help me out of this mess.

As I am speaking with you now, I am in Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking the face of God and I believe I would get out of this dilemma one day. I am not a kleptomaniac.”

Back in February 2013, she was also arrested for robbery by the police in Alade, in the Somolu area of Lagos State. After that, she was arrested and spent some months in Kirikiri prisons but was released in late 2013.

Akilapa reportedly stole from the shop of the woman she was working for back in the days. It was reported that the actress started working for a businesswoman since she fell on hard times.

The businesswoman had bought new iPads, iPhones, and laptops to the shop. During the night, when the shop was closed, Akilapa came back and opened the shop with a master key.

She allegedly took some of the phones, pads, and laptops but was caught in the possession of the items. Yetunde Akilapa was arrested and locked up.

Her sister blames Yetunde’s ‘condition’ on a curse their mother placed on her some years ago.

She was reportedly banned from the movie industry for going against the industry’s code of conduct. Sunny Alli said revealed;

“She has been banned from the caucus because such incident happened and we asked her to clarify all details and allegations In other to clear her name but unfortunately, the same incident occurred barely a year after and thus, necessary actions needed to be taken.”
